Folks, I'm still struggling to get over this cold or flu or plague or whatever I caught a couple weeks back. It's got me too exhausted even to write at the moment. So I'm taking off until early next week. I'll leave the door to the blog unlocked in case you just want to hang out. There are some bitcoins in the fridge... unless somebody stole them.

So I'll start the conversation: What was your favorite Harold Ramis...
ReplyDelete1) Movie
2) Role
3) Scene
Ramis' best movie (as a director, at least) is probably Groundhog Day.
ReplyDeleteIt's so perfect that I know deep down nothing I produce in any medium will ever be that good. AND the story of a man who has to find it within himself to improve and win the love of a woman hits waaaay too close to home for me.
But Ramis was one of my comedy idols and probably one of the reasons I turned out the way I did. Not a day goes by when I don't quote from Animal House, Caddyshack, Stripes, or one of the Ghostbusters films.
I've read most of the tributes from his fellow filmmakers. It's nice but I'm sorry - Judd Apatow isn't fit to tie Ramis' shoes! He was inspired by Ramis (as are we all) but apparently didn't learn what made his movies hilarious but also heartfelt and anything but cynical.
Get well soon Andrew.

For me it's a toss-up between Ghostbusters and Groundhog Day. Both are so good for different reasons. Ghostbusters is funnier, but Groundhog Day has more heart.
Role: Russel Ziskey in Stripes.
Scene: When he is choking Bill Murray in Stripes and the jeep with the two female M.P.s shows up. Funny stuff.
So has anyone seen Monuments Men"?
