I had a negative reaction to a heart drug I was taking which was causing me serious problems for a few weeks -- I couldn't even walk without passing out and my blood pressure was dipping dangerously low. I am over it now though as the medication is finally out of my system.

Unfortunately, in the meantime, I haven't had the chance to see anything because of the medical stuff and now trying to stay caught up with work.

I will post again starting next week. I promise! :) I'm working on a review of Kingsmen.

P.S. A western located in Australia. His portrayal of a suitably snarky villain as Elliot Marsten was very satisfying. Especially his ..... well you just have to see it. The movie came out after Die Hard and before the Harry Potter series. British scientist did a study on what comprised the perfect human voice. They calculated on "tone, speed, frequency, word spoken per minute, and resonance". Alan Rickman was at the top of the list. This is probably why Rickman was the "Voice of God" in Dogma 1999 movie by Kevin Smith and one of my favorite movies.BevfromNYChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14953050916932306270noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7059293386881623259.post-6624362938453225652016-01-15T19:44:27.515-05:002016-01-15T19:44:27.515-05:00One interesting bit of trivia that I've learne...One interesting bit of trivia that I've learned upon his passing is that Die Hard was his first movie role at the age of 41. Sometimes an actor does such a good job that I have a hard time seeing them play another character, but he proved that he was very versatile. I loved him as the Sheriff of Nottingham in Robin Hood and thought he did a good job in Sense and Sensibility. I agree with you about how good he was in Harry Potter and Galaxy Quest. He will be truly missed.TJhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10190795207362563696noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7059293386881623259.post-86169761165780011872016-01-15T10:10:54.285-05:002016-01-15T10:10:54.285-05:00I just wanted to mention his role as Judge Turpin ...I just wanted to mention his role as Judge Turpin Sweeney Todd, not because I feel it was in any way a defining role for Rickman, but simply because he did the role justice, both acting and singing, and demonstrated, yet again, there is simply nothing he couldn't do on screen. tryanmaxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09881154741574720094noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7059293386881623259.post-82771302586249770442016-01-15T09:07:47.760-05:002016-01-15T09:07:47.760-05:00As much as it sucked to read about Bowie's pas...As much as it sucked to read about Bowie's passing, this one especially hurt. What's interesting is they both had cancer, were both British, and were both 69 years old. (Tim Curry better be careful!) And they both had geek cred so you had a certain crowd mourning more than most.

As far as Rickman goes, I actually just watched a movie with him last week: CBGB where he plays Hilly Kristal, owner of the titular club and punk rock pioneer. Sadly, it wasn't a good movie. I have no idea what the real Kristal was like but Rickman basically sleepwalks through the movie (I have to assume that was an intentional choice.) And while it's hard to distill an entire genre into a 90-minute movie, it goes in too many directions with too many anachronisms. (We see Punk Magazine being created before the music genre even exists!)

The New Yorker published this cartoon yesterday - what a heartbreaker.ScottDShttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09619078842202925064noreply@blogger.com
