He actually had another movie come out in the last year: Stonewall. Not only did it make about 8 bucks at the box-office, it was also reviled by critics and the LGBT community hated it, too!

As for this movie, I'll admit the trailers made me smile - I'm still a fan of the first one after 20 years - but there was still an air of "Really?!" hanging over the whole thing, and Will Smith's absence didn't help, though many critics later said he made the right choice!

I also hated that they wrote out Margaret Colin's character... and I especially HATED that they didn't bring back Mae Whitman to play the President's daughter. Not hot enough, I guess.ScottDShttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09619078842202925064noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7059293386881623259.post-13958044980969722162016-10-29T11:49:01.096-04:002016-10-29T11:49:01.096-04:00Jason, The Day After Tommorrow had the same proble...Jason, The Day After Tommorrow had the same problem. It was meant to be a stab at the US and conservatives on environmental issues and it came across as so over-the-top stupid that even leftist environmentalists worried that it would turn people off of environmentalism.

Seriously, an ice storm that respects national borders? LOL!AndrewPricehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11312364467936820986noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7059293386881623259.post-5669587677581468592016-10-29T11:44:36.287-04:002016-10-29T11:44:36.287-04:00Thanks, Andrew. They didn’t even hold press screenings or give it much pre-release hype.

Speaking of Emmerich's politics, the female president was clearly modeled on Hillary with the pantsuits, plus the actress took inspiration from Hillary, and yet the character commits a really stupid act that makes Earth’s situation even worse and she ends up getting killed midway in the movie. She doesn’t get to do any of the rallying the nation, leading the war stuff Bill Pullman’s President Whitmore did in the first film.

If this was supposed to make the idea of a Hillary presidency look good, they failed horribly!
Jasonnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7059293386881623259.post-20114642996928979242016-10-29T11:42:21.617-04:002016-10-29T11:42:21.617-04:00Thanks, Daniel. It’s not even good in a “disaster porn” kind of way. It's like if a movie could be a stale can of hash, this would be it!Jasonnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7059293386881623259.post-12319415007890686752016-10-29T11:27:01.360-04:002016-10-29T11:27:01.360-04:00Jason, I haven't seen this one. I'll probably catch it when it comes to HBO, but I'm not in any rush, that's for sure.

As for Emmerich, he's such a leftist ass that I honestly am happy when he fails.AndrewPricehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11312364467936820986noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7059293386881623259.post-44123608828478025252016-10-29T07:28:35.665-04:002016-10-29T07:28:35.665-04:00Thanks for the review, Jason! Well, I was expecting some of Emmerich's obnoxious politics as well, though it doesn't sound like he put in enough to be jarring. Either way it doesn't sound like I'm missing anything!

- DanielArgentGalehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01173296751792700318noreply@blogger.com
